This is the itinerary we recommend most often, and the one we have refined the most. Eight days is the shortest trip that covers Egypt's three essential cities without feeling like a forced march.
Internal flights between Cairo, Luxor and Aswan are included. The overnight train is cheaper and we run that version too, but flying buys you most of a day back in each direction.

Comfortable closed shoes and light layers. Sites are dusty and often unshaded, so bring a hat and sunscreen. For mosques and churches, shoulders and knees should be covered, and women should carry a scarf for their hair.
