A 4x4 run into the Sinai interior to walk two sandstone canyons striped in ochre, purple and rust.
The Coloured Canyon is a narrow slot around 800 metres long with walls up to forty metres high, banded in mineral colours. Walking it takes about an hour and requires no scrambling.
Salama Canyon is wider, quieter, and usually completely empty.

Comfortable closed shoes and light layers. Sites are dusty and often unshaded, so bring a hat and sunscreen. For mosques and churches, shoulders and knees should be covered, and women should carry a scarf for their hair.
